Trade Show & Conference

The Labrador North Chamber of Commerce (LNCC) and the Baffin Regional Chamber of Commerce (BRCC) are joint partners in a high profile event – the Northern Lights Trade Show and Conference.  This ground breaking, business and cultural showcase of Labrador, Nunavut and Nunavik was held at the Ottawa Congress Centre from January 30 - February 2, 2008. The second Northern Lights event took place from January 27-30, 2010, in Montreal, Quebec. We are pleased to announce that we will be returning to Ottawa for the 2012 event taking place from February 1-4, 2012 at the new Ottawa Convention Centre. Please click here for the news release.

The show serves many purposes including:

  • Help to create stronger relationships between northern regions;
  • General promotion of our regions to the southern markets;
  • Promotion of economic development opportunities available in the eastern arctic and north;
  • Promote joint ventures and the exchange of information between the northern regions and others;
  • Allow northern organizations the opportunity to establish new relationships with southern businesses;
  • Promote Expo Labrador, the Nunavut Trade Show and Conference and other regional trade shows and conferences to the south and to the other northern regions;
  • Promote eastern arctic and north tourism, culture and the arts to both the south and other northern regions.

The inaugural four-day event in 2008 was a huge success, attracting over 100 exhibitors and more than 500 delegates.  The event also featured many high-profile speakers, as well as a sizeable arts and cultural exhibition of visual and performing artists from all three profiled northern regions. More than 1,000 participants are expected to attend the 2012 event in Ottawa.
